Gonna MISS you, Al Jarreau — Let’s Boogie Down One Last Time

Oh the man could make magic. Smooth as silk or percussive like a one-man drum line. But the beat that bubbled up when I heard the news today wasn’t Al Jarreau’s most “artistic” song. It’s just the one that never fails to make me wiggle a little, no matter where I am or what I’m doing when I hear it.

And you know, the way we’re losing our most miraculous music makers these days, I’m just tired of crying. This time, I’m gonna dance my way through the tears, and rejoice and give thanks that we had him as long as we did.

See you later, Al! Damn, I’m going to miss the joy.
